At Practical Roofing we really know the importance of health and safety in the work place.
The images below detail some of the specialist equipment we use to provide safe means of access and adequate fall protection when working at height.
Working at Height
Falls from height are the most common cause of fatal injury and the second most common cause of injury to employees, accounting for 10% of all such injuries. As a result, in April 2005 the HSE produced the new Working at Height regulations.
Health and Safety at Practical Roofing
We carry out site-specific risk assessments prior to any works commencing and submit a detailed method statement and risk assessment pack for every project.
Our operatives are trained via the IPAF training programme and issued with a PAL card. The PAL Card (Powered Access License) is recognised worldwide across industries as proof of platform operator training to the highest standard.
The IPAF training programme was developed by leading industry professionals and is certified by TÜV as confirming to the international standard ISO 18878:2004 Mobile elevating work platforms Operator (driver) training.
We also carry Health and Safety arrangements in vehicles so that any work that does need to be carried out is dealt with quickly and efficiently and is not held up waiting for Health and Safety clearance. We have the very latest technologies to help us get to the heart of the problem quickly and easily.
Fully Trained Operatives
We encourage our staff to take ownership of their own safety and that of others by ensuring that each Operative is kept up to date with current Health, Safety and Environmental information, enabling them to comply with the statutory requirements in relation to safety and environmental management.
In addition each Operative receives training in emergency arrangements such as fire and first aid to minimise the affect of any incident that may arise on site. All Operatives also receive product specific training delivered directly by the manufacturer, thus minimising any potential risks during installation no matter how complex job.
We have produced a Toolbox Talk programme delivered by our Site Supervisors and attended by every one of our roofers, which aims to keep our workforce fully aware of relevant and current Health, Safety and Environmental issues. During these Toolbox Talks we actively encourage discussion and debate ensuring all aspects of Health and Safety and our procedures are explored and discussed.
We work closely with our clients to ensure that our internal controls protect their interests and manage risk to an acceptable level.
This is achieved by producing and agreeing practicable and workable Health and Safety Plans for each new project then proactively managing and monitoring the plan throughout the project. This commitment to our client’s wellbeing and the understanding of our accountability for the health and safety and welfare of customers and their staff our own employees.
By maintaining and developing our management systems to match industry best practise in the areas of Safety, Quality, Risk, Environmental and Waste management we are able to apply mechanisms for improving our performance and ensure that each project from the offset minimises the impact on the surrounding environment keeping it safe and healthy for all to enjoy.
